PALLADION - The patronage of Athena

In mythology, this symbol (goatskin) - which had descended from the heavens - meant that Pallas Athena protected the site or city that she gave this symbol to.

The deity sitting is Dioni receiving the three Pliades near the sacred Phigos (Oak-tree) of Dodoni. Upper right The Palladion Descending.
